not legal, but imported
Authorize Marijuana: Not Legal, but Still Used Industrially:
"Despite all the rules against hemp, U.S. retailers import 1.9 million pounds of hemp fiber, 450,000 pounds of hemp seeds, and 331 pounds of hemp seed oil from places like Canada. They’re allow[ed] to import it because it has been sterilized and contains no THC. Health professionals are beginning to find nutritional values in hemp seeds. It’s second to soy protein and has the highest concentration of amino and fatty acids found in any food. So it’s healthy and technically legal, then why is it illegal?"

Marijuana less of a drag than tobacco
Researchers say marijuana is less of a drag than cigarettes:
"A study published in the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine was completed on 5,263 teenage students in Switzerland and is producing some hair raising results. In line with a lot of studies that have been released in 2007 and 2008, this study boldly claims that it has found that marijuana use does not produce the fearful symptoms spread by anti-drug groups. The study seems to make a case that teenagers who use only marijuana, opposed to students who use marijuana and cigarettes are more active in sports, have better grades, are more socially adept and have used less illegal drugs." - businessshrink.biz

Bill to legalize hemp production introduced in Minnesota:
"State legislators will have the opportunity to either blaze a trail toward cannabis legalization or pass on the grassroots movement altogether.
A bill authored by Rep. Phyllis Kahn, DFL-Minneapolis, in support of industrial hemp production in Minnesota is making its way through House committees." - Minnesota Daily
